Roady 2 PAS Received

Roady 2 PAS I had been looking for a way to listen to XM on my bike (it is legal in VA as long as BOTH ears are not covered) when I received a special offer to get it for $20 (normal price had been $149!). Cyndi said I could go ahead and order it, so I did. Well, I finally received my Roady2 PAS via UPS yesterday. I took it out of the package, and looked at it…it is a fairly ingenious design. I set it to charge last night. Today when I leave work, I'll take my Roady2 home and try it out. Once I use it for a few days, I'll let everyone know what I think.

BTW, the image to the left is from the Delphi website. I didn't think they would mind me using their image to plug their product!

12 weeks and counting

Tomorrow, Little One is officially 12 weeks old! I realize this isn't as big a milestone as it will be when we can hold L.O. and celebrate our first 3 months together, but it's still pretty exciting. It can be hard not to wonder if everything is going alright, if he or she is growing right along…but it's comforting to know that we're pretty much through the 1st trimester. And whatever happens, God is in control!!

I have been feeling much better lately. Mostly, I only feel poorly if I need to eat…which seems to be more often than in the past 🙂 It's been challenging to try to adjust my eating habits, but I'm working on it. At least I feel like eating again! I haven't really put on any weight since I was sick off and on for so many weeks, but I think my stomach just may be getting a little rounder. I'm even looking forward to the time when my clothes get snug!!

Speaking of, I bought my first maternity clothes on Saturday:^) We spent the day with my aunt and uncle in MD and Angela and my cousin, Rachael, took me to Baby Depot to check things out. It was a lot of fun just to see everything and laugh with the girls! And I got a really cute white shirt and a long, black broomstick skirt that, while too big now, should serve me well through most of the pregnancy…as long as I don't gain 50 pounds or anything!!

This week will be busy thanks to VBS, and next week will be even worse since I'll be working long days with the missionary kids, but it'll help pass the time to my next OB visit on August 1!!!

10 years later

Tomorrow, July 17, 2006 is the 10th anniversary of a horrible disater that changed the lives of many. TWA flight 800 anniversary
There are MANY articles online about this disaster.

Another 100+ mile week

I had another 100+ mile week last week.  I haven't ran the numbers yet, but it is looking like I went 105 miles.  Not as good as I wanted, but on the last day, I had a spoke break on my rear wheel.  That cut my ride short by 7 miles….what a bummer  🙁

I don't know if I'll get 100+ this week.  The weather is supposed to be very HOT and humid so I don't know what I'll do….probably play every afternoon by ear.

Remember the Believers

We should pray for the believers in Lebanon and Israel.  Pray that God would use them to be a strong witness in this time of turmoil.  Pray that God would send people to help comfort their families back in the US.

Let it be known

Let it be known that I back Israel 100%.  They have given up too much in the past (troops for prisoners, Gaza Strip, West Bank, etc….) and are paying the price for it.  To Israel I say stand strong!  Continue your efforts to limit civilian casualties, but defend yourself.

Remember the purpose of war:  Kill more of your enimies people and break more of his "stuff" as quickly as possible.

Discovery Losing Riders!

I got to work today (after a horrible ride…it was real tough…don’t know why) and was checking out the 2006 TDF page for today’s stage when I noticed this dispatch:

13:30 – Noval Abandons…
There are just seven riders left in the Discovery Channel team. Benjamin Noval is the latest to quit the Tour; joining team-mate Paolo Savoldelli who stepped off at the 43km mark.

That made me scroll on down where I saw this:

13:13 – Savoldelli Abandons!
The Discovery Channel team has lost the services of the two-time Giro d’Italia champion, Paolo Savoldelli. The Italian abandoned at the 43km mark of today’s stage.

This is Amazing! Who would have ever thought this! I wonder what Lance is thinking of his former teammates. One thing that his team always prided itself on was taking everyone to Paris. Now two riders have given up.

[Update 2013-01-18 06:58:05Lance has admitted to doping.

Rowletts Bike Shop in Richmond

[Update 2012-12-27 08:12:09] If you came here looking for our pictures, they are on flickr.

I just wanted to post about an experience I had today with Rowletts Bike Shop in Richmond, VA.

Last year at the beach, I broke the pedals on my bike.  I wasn’t too disapointed….they were the original plastic pedals and had been used quite heavily.  When we returned, I went to the bike store to get some more.  The guy who helped me recommended metal pedals.  No problem…I figured they wouldn’t break as easily.  I bought a set, took them home, and installed them.

Fast forward almost a year.  The right pedal broke last week and the left was starting to (I don’t have pictures though).  I kept riding because I didn’t want to sink money into new pedals.  Well, the other day, I decided I had enough and would go back to Rowletts to see if there was a waranty.

Well, the guys (and girl) in the shop didn’t know, but they guy in charge said he didn’t see why the company wouldn’t replace them.  Partially beacause he had never seen pedals get in that shape (everyone was in awe) and partially because he wanted to do the right thing.

I talked to them for a while about pedaling technique, pedals, clipless pedals, etc….  Anyway, I have made up my mind to buy a set of clipless pedals, shoes, etc…..

If you live in Richmond, I would highly highly highly (did I mention I would highly) recommend Rowletts.  Where am I going back to?  Rowletts.  Why?  They treat people right!
