Scary

This post by Dr. Mohler about a religious test for judges is scary. Come on folks…have you not read the Constitution? To do this would be incredibly unconstitutional.

He actually suggests that Christian leaders — both Roman Catholic and Evangelical — should be called before the Senate Judiciary Committee to say whether they would discipline a church member who, as a judge, voted to uphold Roe v. Wade. He suggests that a Catholic judge, for example, has "an automatic conflict of interest" when it comes to cases dealing with abortion. The same would hold true for an evangelical judge whose church would take action against him on the basis of his judicial decisions.

I can honestly say that I never expected a major American newspaper to give space to such a blatantly unconstitutional argument. The Constitution prohibits any religious test for public office. Given this nation's political history, one might think that a paper located in highly-Catholic Boston would keep this Constitutional principle rather firmly in mind.

Since liberal denominations take a liberal position on abortion, they get a pass, along with judicial nominees who may be their members. This kind of proposed legislation would be directed only at denominations and churches that are pro-life.

Splitting California??

I received this link today dealing with Splitting California into three states. What an idea! What a way for the liberals to rip control. With three states instead of two, liberal power in the senate would increase by 4 (remember, each state gets two regardless of size). This is the same as New York City becoming a state or Washington DC statehood.

Now, I have heard (but not found any "credible" references on Google) that the treaty that brought the Republic of Texas into the US allowed it to be divided into as many as 5 states. If the liberals want to carve up California, New York, and DC just to steal the senate (and the government) back, I say split Texas. But, remember that not only does the US Government have to agree to the split but the state the that is being split has to agree too.

This–a state splitting–has only happened once that I know of. That was in the Civil War when Virginia split from Virginia. That happened, basically, because of a technicality of how the founding fathers of WV were recognized as the "Restored Government of Virginia" and asked themselves for permission to split. Dairy Industry

Agape Press is reporting that Ellison Bakery has pulled its adds from a trade publication.

For years Ellison Bakery has advertised extensively in Dairy Field magazine, a trade publication for the dairy industry. Recently, however, Dairy Field ran an editorial critical of conservative pro-family groups such as the American Family Association for censuring Kraft Foods for its pro-homosexual policies. AFA has particularly targeted Kraft lately because of the food company's sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago.

Upon seeing the editorial criticizing the pro-family group, Ellison Bakery general manager Todd Wallin quickly pulled the company's $20,000 advertising account from the magazine. "This is not a personal attack against people who have chosen this type of lifestyle," he hastens to explain, adding that homosexuals, like all people "are created in the image of God." Nevertheless, the executive adds, "I don't support things that would promote people making those bad choices."

If I bought dairy cookies, I would buy them from Ellison.

Conservative Court?

Remember the liberals whining about the Supreme Court being conservative when Pres. Bush was elected? This recent decision proves that we defiantly do NOT have a conservative court. Read more about the decision here. It is now legal for a city to take my property and give it to someone else.

Google

For those of you who don’t know, Google usually changes their logo to go along with the holiday. This morning, I woke up and thought I would go to Google.com to see what their logo looked like. Here is a screenshot of what I saw today when I logged on:

Just to make sure of what I was seeing, I refreshed my browser. Nope, they did not change their logo. Why didn’t Google change their logo today? Google, I call on you to issue an appology, change your logo, and honor those who have served, fought, and died for our freedom.

Is Google liberal? I don’t know, but it is certanly looking like it. First they refuse conservive adds now this. Does anyone have any idea of an alternate search enging that is as good?

[Update 10-10-2007  05:44:56] I found a contest where an individual sponsored a contest to help Google develop a log for Memorial Day.  Here is a link to the post where I talk about that.

Mae Magouirk

Well, WorldNetDaily.com is reporting in this article that Mrs. Magouirk has been transferred to a hospital and is now receiving proper medical attention.

Schiavo Fallout?

WorldNetDaily.com is reporting in this article that a granddaughter is, essentially, murdering her grandma.

In a situation recalling the recent death of Terri Schiavo in Florida, an 81-year-old widow, denied nourishment and fluids for nearly two weeks, is clinging to life in a hospice in LaGrange, Ga., while her immediate family fights desperately to save her life before she dies of starvation and dehydration….

That paragraph could have been written about the recent Terri Schiavo case. If you read the rest of the article, you find out that this lady–Mae Magouirk–is being murdered. She was healthy, but had to be admitted to the hospital with a heart condition. Shortly after that, her granddaughter, Beth Gaddy, had her transferred to a hospice and ordered that food and water be withheld. It turns out that Beth didn't have the authority to order that, but her decision is being upheld by the courts. Mae even had a living will–remember those?

The big call after the Terri Schiavo case was "get a living will," "specify what you want," etc…. Well, Mae had one that spelled out what she wanted to have happen:

…In her living will, Magouirk stated that fluids and nourishment were to be withheld only if she were either comatose or "vegetative."…

It looks like the courts and everyone else is simply ignoring what is going on here. Folks, read the entire article! We MUST stand up and fight for those who cannot do so for themselves! To this end, I have sent an e-mail to the only e-mail address I could find for the hospice: info@wghs.org. I urge you to send them an e-mail and urge them to not allow this murder to continue.

For those of you who want to read what I sent, here is the e-mail:

Chief Physician:

WorldNetDaily is reporting that you have a patient in your care by the name of Mae Magouirk. The URL for the news story is http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43688. The article states that "… since March 28 Hospice-LaGrange has denied Magouirk normal nourishment or fluids via a feeding tube through her nose or fluids via an IV. She has been kept sedated with morphine and ativan, a powerful tranquillizer…." The article also states that this "…is being done in defiance of Magouirk's specific wishes, which she set down in a "living will," and without agreement of her closest living next-of-kin, two siblings and a nephew…." The person responsible for this is Mrs. Magouirk's granddaughter, Beth Gaddy, because "…[g]randmama is old and I think it is time she went home to Jesus."…"…[s]he has glaucoma and now this heart problem, and who would want to live with disabilities like these?""

Is this correct? Is your facility allowing Ms. Gaddy to murder Mrs. Magouirk? With the Terri Schiavo case ending, much has been said about living wills and how they allow an individual to specify what they want to have happen to them in certain circumstances. What good is a living will if the instructions are not followed? I urge you to follow the instructions contained in Mrs. Magouirk's living will. I urge you to keep Mrs. Magouirk from harm and injustice, as is outlined in the Hippocratic Oath (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/doctors/oath_classical.html).

Sincerely,
Matthew Maxson
