20 Jan 2014 — Picture of the Day

IMG_20140120_071928.jpg

This was my view on the way to work this morning.  Just getting light.  The moon up.  Nice and frosty.  Great time of the day.  It really makes me miss being in the woods.

The “Walkie Scorchie” tower

20 Fenchurch Street

At certain times of the year, the news is full of stories like “The Wrong Kind of Snow” or “Leaves Disrupt Rail Travel” or “Sun Delays Rail“.  Well, now there is another “wrong kind of sun” story:  a new building under construction in London (at 20 Fenchurch Street) is slightly concave.  It does what a shape like that does and focuses the sun onto a point.

Well, it turns out that in the fall autumn (and I would say in the spring as well) the building focuses light across the street.  It has even melted cars and cooked eggs.  I’m curious to see how this plays out.

Scratch and tea

Isaac is 3 (we are having his cake today).  That means he can go to Small Land at Ikea!  Cyndi had a church thing this morning so I took them to Ikea.  They played for an hour while I had a tea and read.

Oh, by the way, did you know that Ikea has free refills in their restaurant too??

UKSnowpocalypse2013 — More Pictures

Well, it didn’t snow yesterday; however, we did go sledding/sledging.  Eventually, Cyndi will post the pictures…when she does, we’ll put in a link.

Today, it started snowing in the morning about the time we left for Church and kept it up all day.  We got about another 2 inches on the ground and it is still snowing.  Perhaps we’ll get a foot over night  ;^)

Here’s a few pictures from a walk Lydia and I did this evening.  The rest are on flickr in our UKSnowpocalypse2013 set.
