Bike Ride

I went on a 43 km bike ride this morning. How far is that in units I can understand? A bit over 26 miles. I did it in 1 hr 51 min. That works out to an average speed of 14.6 mph. That is pitiful….but, I haven’t really been on a bike since october. Here are some pictures from my ride this morning.

Some Low Life….

…stole my bike seat today. I had my bike locked up in the basement of our building. When I went down today to ride it, I found that some dirtbag had stole my seat and cut the cable for my cyclometer. ARG!

Bike

I bought me a bike today. I had been borrowing one from our other teammates, but felt bad doing that day in and day out (especially putting thousands of miles a year on a bike). So, I went looking and found one. I bought the Capriolo Cobra (23″ model). That raises an interesting question…why do they measure bikes in inches here just like in the states…you would think they would use centimeters or milimeters, etc…. Oh well….

Here is a picture if you are interested:

[Update 04-20-2010 17:25:55] The links in the article are broken.  I guess capriolo doesn’t make this model any more.  I also found a picture on the net and replaced the image I had here from them.

I’m sure we were…

…the talk of the town this week. Why? Well, we took Lydia out in our bike trailer for the first time. I really liked it, but as we rode, Cyndi–who was riding in the back–said people were stopping, looking, pointing, laughing, etc…. I guess our “cover” and the idea of being grey have gone totally out the window. Oh well…we took some pictures and thought we would post them for everyone to see.

Get ready.

Get set.

One, two, three.

The Week’s Ride

We,, I remember my first 100+ mile week (it was last year over the 4th of July).  I don’t remember how much I rode, but I remember it was over 100 miles in a week.

This week will also be memorable…it was my first 200+ mile week.  Here is the breakdown:

Memorial Day Ride:  63 miles
6 trips to work (@ 9 miles per trip):  54 miles
Office to parents:  11 miles
Extra ride Friday evening:  40 miles
Saturday ride :  77 miles

Total =  245 miles

Today’s Bike Ride

Wallace picked the route today.  It took up from Richmond up into Kind William Co.  The ride was good; however, I wouldn’t recommend it beause there were dogs.  Not just 1 or 2….7.  Wallace and I were chased by 7 dogs today!

Anyway, te map below doesn’t have our 5 or 7 mile detour on it (we got lost).  Definantly the longest ride of the year for me.

Longest Ride of the Year so far

This ride was rough.  It started off good, but ended up very very hot.  I was thinking we could stop in Coatsville….if you ride this way, there is NOTHING in Coatesville.  Don’t plan on anything until you get back to Ashland.

Longer Ride To Work/Home

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add more distance for the week.  Today, I tried a longer way to work and home.

Here is my route to work:

Here is my route home:

Long Ride Home…In The Rain

Today, I decided I wanted to ride a bit more on the way home.  So, I mapped out a route and went for it.  The ride went very well except for the rain storm that came up 1/2 way through the ride.  The last 10 miles were spent riding in a downpour.
