Burn Out RIR May 2007 Bush Race

When the #2 car won the May 2007 Bush Race, he did a celebratory burn out.  I captured it on film (well, actually it isn’t film since I got it on my digital camera. but you get the idea).  Here is the video for you to see:

Kwik-E-Marts in Richmond?

Are Kwik-E-Marts coming to Richmond?  Probably not, but I thought the article was interesting.

But at a company event yesterday in Richmond, officials showcased their planned promotional ef- forts with major upcoming films, including “The Simpsons Movie.”

If all goes as planned, the convenience store chain plans to refit 11 stores across the U.S. — Richmond is an unlikely choice — to resemble the front of the Kwik-E-Mart, the convenience store that Homer and other characters frequent in the classic cartoon TV series.

Customers also will be able to buy products inspired by the nearly two-decades-old show, including KrustyO’s cereal, Buzz Cola and iced Squishees (the cup says Squishee, but the contents will be Slurpee).

I never watched the simpsons, but I saw this linked off another blog that thought it neat that they would announce it in Richmond.

Yesterdays Break Fast

For those who don't know, it is currently the Muslim month of Ramadan.  Last night, I was invited to go eat dinner with some of VCU's Saudi students as they broke their Ramadan fast.  This was a night of many firsts.  I had my first date.  I had my first Arabic coffee (the kind with cardamom in it…I had turkish coffee in Serbia and the two are nothing alike).  I had this dip stuff for the dates.  and one of the guys cooked this rice and chicken dish (I forget what it was called).  Everything was sooo good.

We started off at 7 with dates then simply sat around their living room, snacked, and ate.  When it was time for the main meal, it was about 9pm.  We ate "European style" (as I call it….) on their porch.  That chicken and rice was excellent.

It was good to go get to hang out with these guys.  I don't know where this will develop, but I'm excted about meeting more of the Saudi students at VCU!
