I was doing some research (and yak shaving today) and came across this online Bible Study site. It looks like it will track progess and everything. Looks really kind of neat.
Salem Baptist Church
Cyndi and I visted Salem Baptist Church Sunday. The people were very nice and friendly. They are a smaller congregation (200ish people). They have a small building and are in the process of moving to a new location with more room. They are a growing congregation.
It is interesting how we got hooked up with them. My parents were at the convention in Nashville. Messengers from Salem were at the Convention in Nashville. They ended up in line next to each other at a barbecue joint. They got to talking and we ended up being invited.
Seminary
I never thought I would say this, but I'm thinking about going back to school. I'm thinking of attending seminary. Here are the criteria I have in mind:
Online Learning — I must be able to complete either all (or a significant portion of the program) without setting foot on campus. I have a job and I need to keep it.
Conservative — I'm not going to a liberal heretical seminary. That means they must teach the truth starting with the fact that the Bible is the Word of God. God inspired men to write what He wanted on paper. It has no error in it.
Cost — I'm not wealthy so the cost needs to be reasonable
There are some things I'm leaning towards:
Baptist — I don't think it necessarily has to be a Baptist school, but one that is close in beliefs
Anyone have any suggestions?
Memory Verse
23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Prayer
I also came across this widget while doing some research today. I'm just trying it out to see how often it is updated. Let me know what you think.
[Update 2007-03-13 21:53:40] The javascript can be found here: Put this Prayer box on your website. I removed it because I didn't see any way to make it work with my current CMS.
Paper Clock
Alan recently finished assembling his paper clock. For pictures and videos, go here.
[Update 2012-12-26 06:45:30] Removed link to http://javajack.dynalias.net/paperclock/ (it was dead)
Conservative Court?
Remember the liberals whining about the Supreme Court being conservative when Pres. Bush was elected? This recent decision proves that we defiantly do NOT have a conservative court. Read more about the decision here. It is now legal for a city to take my property and give it to someone else.
Posting
Sorry for getting lax in my blogging lately. Cyndi and I just moved, and I've been busy with that and a few other things. Hopefully, over the next few weeks it will get better. I know it's no fun reading a blog that never changes.
:^)
Carbonated Beverage
Ok…what do you call that sweet brown (or other color) carbonated beverage? I call it pop. Other people call it soda. Yet others call it all coke.
Why believe the Bible
Well, as usually happens, I heard a sermon on this topic last year and forgot about it. If you want to listen to the sermon, it is available as an mp3 here.
Here is why you should believe the Bible:
It is a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses who report supernatual events that took place in fullfilment of specific prohpecies. They claim their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
Don't believe me? Look up 2 peter 1:16-21.
