TMC 1330 update

update time again
temp is 61 and they are still averaging 16 mph  which is great
they passed a sign that said 43 miles to go to Richmond and they have
gone 75 miles so far
back in an hour or so

TMC 1230 update

It's now noon thirty and they are leaving Willliamsburg.  Temp has risen to 61 but it is a great fall
day for a bike ride

TMC 1130 update

Well, they have arrived in Williamsburg and are preparing for pictures and all of that hooplah
they temp is now 59 and the total miles is 59  Not sure of the mph as of yet.  The next update when they start back.

TMC 1015 update

Next update
The temp has resen to 54 now and the long riding pants have been shed for shorts.
They have been visited by a VA state trooper and informed that they must use flashers on the
follow car to warn those coming up behind.
Anyhow.  They are at 45 miles and the average speed is 16.3  Not too bad for this far into the trip
They are almost to Williamsburg and will stop there for a photo and some snacks and then turn around
for the downhill side of the trip

TMC 0830 Richmond time

Just talked to Cyndi on the phone.  They left the office as planned a little before 0700.  The temp is rather chilly but they are progressing.  This was the first break they have gone 22ish miles at an average of 16.8 mph.
Not bad for thee temp being 38 at the current time.
Half way to Williamsburg  Not much traffic

Hes Got The Whole World In His Hands

I went looking for the words to the song He's Got The Whole World In His Hands this evenin (Cyndi needed it for work.)  I found several versions, but this is the one I remember:

He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.

He's got the wind and the rain in His hands.
He's got the wind and the rain in His hands.
He's got the wind and the rain in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.

He's got you and me brother in His hands.
He's got you and me brother in His hands.
He's got you and me brother in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.

He's got the little bitty baby in His hands.
He's got the little bitty baby in His hands.
He's got the little bitty baby in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands.

Yesterdays Break Fast

For those who don't know, it is currently the Muslim month of Ramadan.  Last night, I was invited to go eat dinner with some of VCU's Saudi students as they broke their Ramadan fast.  This was a night of many firsts.  I had my first date.  I had my first Arabic coffee (the kind with cardamom in it…I had turkish coffee in Serbia and the two are nothing alike).  I had this dip stuff for the dates.  and one of the guys cooked this rice and chicken dish (I forget what it was called).  Everything was sooo good.

We started off at 7 with dates then simply sat around their living room, snacked, and ate.  When it was time for the main meal, it was about 9pm.  We ate "European style" (as I call it….) on their porch.  That chicken and rice was excellent.

It was good to go get to hang out with these guys.  I don't know where this will develop, but I'm excted about meeting more of the Saudi students at VCU!

Prayer Request

On Saturday (14 Oct) myself and two co-workers will be participating in The Missions Century (for more information, go to http://www.TheMissionsCentury.org).  We will be riding from Richmond to Williamsburg and back (about 110 miles) to raise money for the IMB‘s Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  I have four specific items I would like to ask people to pray for:

  1. Opportunities to Witness
  2. God to be glorified
  3. Saftey
  4. Good Weather

Thanks!

[Update 2012-12-26 15:05:52] The link to the LMCO was wrong.  I updated it.

Movies online

Based on Cyndi and I's trip to Serbia, we created this movie. We hope it will help people around the world get a sense of Serbia, the Serbian people, and their need for Christ. All the files below are the same movie…just different sizes.

Here in a bit, I'll have an avi up (sorry they are all Windows Media Player files right now…that is all MS Windows Movie Maker wants to make) and I'll put a copy on google video. When I do, I'll post a link. In the meantime:

Where Are We Headed?

Where is the US headed?  Well, certainly NOT where the founders intended.  Given some of the trash protected as free speech, this guy shouldn't have been arrested.  Read the story of the pastor arrested on a sidewalk for holding a sign of the 10 commandments.

I this latest case, the Christian activist notes, "I was arrested on a public sidewalk, three years ago, for holding a sign [bearing an inscription] of the Ten Commandments." He says the United States marshal who accosted him that day told him "Reverend Mahoney, you can be here. You just can't hold that sign."

Since Mahoney chose not to surrender his sign, he says he was taken into custody. However, he contends his arrest was a blatant violation of his constitutional rights, since "I was arrested not for my conduct but for my beliefs."
