Finally

Well, I finally have everything moved over from my old blog.  It feels like it took forever.  Now, the only thing remaining is to get all of the pictures from the maxsons.org site over into our new gallery.

ARG

Last night, I decided I would take some cups and try to make cold-brewed coffee.  Everything went well…I took 2 plastic cups, piked tons of holes in the bottom, ground some coffee, got everything set up, put it in the fridge, and went to sleep.  This morning, I woke up and started draining the coffee.  Everything was going well until I bumped the cups while packing my lunch.  Coffee (both wet soppy grounds and liquid coffee) went everywhere.

I was running behind anyway, but now I had to take extra time to clean my mess up.  ARG!

Special Prayer For Serbia

Pastors (and others) in Serbia are calling for a time of special prayer for Serbia and Serbians.  For more complete information, check out the article at the Pray4Serbs website:  Prayer for Serbia: March 23-June 10

A letter from a pastor in Serbia to you:

Dear brothers and sisters,
Serbia. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name of our country: Wars, the dictatorship of Milosevic, isolation, banishment, humiliation, shame?
Serbia. The forgotten country of the Balkans which needs help in prayer and spiritual warfare to break the darkness that hangs over her, to start mending the wounds of the wars, and so that the grace of God would pour out abundantly and the kingdom of God would take a significant place in our country.

God loves Serbia.

[Update 2012-12-26 12:40:40] The links to the pray4serbs website were broken and I couldn’t find the article again.

I’m trying to figure out…

…why Sam's Club has such a big deal about putting a "different" size tire on your vehicle.  Last time we had to get tires, we went to Sam's and purchased 225/75/R15s.  No sweat.  We went back again, picked tires out that were the same size.  This time the guy looked at his computer and said they were the wrong size.  ARG!

Why would it be ok one time but not another?  What's the big deal?  I think they are just trying to prevent lawsuits, but why would I sue them anyway?  I mean…come on…I made the choice on the size tires, not them.

Is “our” wall like the Berlin Wall?

In this article on FoxNews.com, we discover that the President of Mexico–Pres. Calderon–likens the proposed 700 mile wall on a portion of the US/Mexico border to the Berlin Wall.  But is that really true?

Why was the Berlin Wall built?  The East German government built the Berlin Wall to keep its citizens from leaving.  Are we trying to keep our citizens from leaving?  Nope. The point of the wall is to try and prevent illegal ENTRY into our country.

The Berlin Wall was a symbol of an oppressive government.  While our government has issues–severa issues–it isn't oppressive like the East German govement.

In conclusion, I think it is inaccurate to liken our wall to the Berlin Wall.  Pres. Bush should, at his meeting with Pres. Calderon, say as much.  He should also point out that we welcome immigrants.  We just expect them to follow the rules.
