In an update to this post , it turns out that Germans don't like the idea of speed limits on the Autobhan either .
Is “our” wall like the Berlin Wall?
In this article on FoxNews.com, we discover that the President of Mexico–Pres. Calderon–likens the proposed 700 mile wall on a portion of the US/Mexico border to the Berlin Wall. But is that really true?
Why was the Berlin Wall built? The East German government built the Berlin Wall to keep its citizens from leaving. Are we trying to keep our citizens from leaving? Nope. The point of the wall is to try and prevent illegal ENTRY into our country.
The Berlin Wall was a symbol of an oppressive government. While our government has issues–severa issues–it isn't oppressive like the East German govement.
In conclusion, I think it is inaccurate to liken our wall to the Berlin Wall. Pres. Bush should, at his meeting with Pres. Calderon, say as much. He should also point out that we welcome immigrants. We just expect them to follow the rules.
Speed Limits…On The Autobahn
I just read this article on FoxNews.com about the EU wanting Germany to put limits on the Autobahn . Not to save lives, but to reduce emissions. Can you believe it?
If you actually research the issue, you'll find the the amount of greenhouses gasses contributed by humans is virtually insignificant. For one article on the issue, take a look on this page that compares man-made greenhouse gas emissions to natural greenhouse gas emissions . There are more…if you are interested, just do a google search.

Ive got to Vent
On the way home today, I was listening to Fox News. They were playing this news conference by the Democrats in Washington. They were going on and on about how this election shows America wants a new direction. They were going on and on about how they were going to be bi-partisan. On and On. I got so ticked off.
Let's rewing 2 years. The Republicans had a larger margin of win than the dems do now. The dems were going on and on about how this didn't mean anything….how they expected to work with the Republicans…etc…. The republicans even threw out some ideas like sharing of comittee chairs, etc…. Now the libs win with way less margin and it's a major point!!!
Come on!
The republicans lost because they refused to act like they won. They didn't act like conservitaves who knew they were on the right path. Instead they caved to the liberals and didn't do anything. They squandered an opportunity and deserved to lose.
In the meantime, I hope the libs don't resort to lies. But I'm not optimistic.
Vote
Well, yesterday was Election Day in the US. Cyndi and I went to the polls in VA and voted. We didn't have too much stuff on our ballot.
If you are interested in how the results within Richmond turned out, follow this link.
BTW, just as I did in Columbus, I voted FOR the marriage amendment.
Where Are We Headed?
Where is the US headed? Well, certainly NOT where the founders intended. Given some of the trash protected as free speech, this guy shouldn't have been arrested. Read the story of the pastor arrested on a sidewalk for holding a sign of the 10 commandments.
I this latest case, the Christian activist notes, "I was arrested on a public sidewalk, three years ago, for holding a sign [bearing an inscription] of the Ten Commandments." He says the United States marshal who accosted him that day told him "Reverend Mahoney, you can be here. You just can't hold that sign."
Since Mahoney chose not to surrender his sign, he says he was taken into custody. However, he contends his arrest was a blatant violation of his constitutional rights, since "I was arrested not for my conduct but for my beliefs."
Is Google Liberal?
WorldNetDaily is reporting that Google appears to be censoring news sites from Google news because of content. This comes on top of Google refusing to run certain political adds.
Are they liberal? Are they biased? I don't know….they are still my search engine of choice (I like Google news too). However, I'll add this to my brain just to more accurately judge the quality of results or news listings.
Looks Like Ohio Will Be Exciting
It looks like things are heating up in Ohio…the land of RINOs. For those of you who don't know, Ohio is a state that is run by Republicans…. Continue reading “Looks Like Ohio Will Be Exciting”
The Next Supreme Court Nominee
This Wall Street Journal article got me thinking about what I would like to see in the next nominee. Below are a few snippets from the article:
With Judge John Roberts poised to win Senate confirmation today, President Bush faces a delicate political choice for his second Supreme Court nominee.
Should the president, whose approval rating in polls is lower than at any time during his presidency, select a candidate who — like Judge Roberts — hasn't written extensively about abortion, and try to recapture ground with disenchanted moderates and independents?
…
"We don't want a stealth candidate," says Phyllis Schlafly, president of the Eagle Forum, a conservative lobbying group. "I think the grass roots wants somebody who is upfront, who is out there and is a Scalia or Thomas," she added, referring to the court's two most conservative justices, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. The antiabortion Family Research Council is urging members to sign a petition to "encourage and embolden" Mr. Bush as he ponders a successor to retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
I think the biggest thing for me is not to have, to quote Phyllis Schlafly, "…a stealth candidate…." I want Pres. Bush to nominate a solid conservative. Draw a line in the sand and fight for what is right.
Stuck on Stupid
I heard this the other day on Rush Limbaugh (I listen to him “tape” delay usually so I’m a few days behind) and I remember thinking this was awesome. It is high time someone spoke to the media like this.
Thanks to Radio Blogger for the transcript and mp3. I downloaded the video from Political Teen.
Transcript:
Honore: And Mr. Mayor, let’s go back, because I can see right now, we’re setting this up as he said, he said, we said. All right? We are not going to go, by order of the mayor and the governor, and open the convention center for people to come in. There are buses there. Is that clear to you? Buses parked. There are 4,000 troops there. People come, they get on a bus, they get on a truck, they move on. Is that clear? Is that clear to the public?
Female reporter: Where do they move on…
Honore: That’s not your business.
Male reporter: But General, that didn’t work the first time…
Honore: Wait a minute. It didn’t work the first time. This ain’t the first time. Okay? If…we don’t control Rita, you understand? So there are a lot of pieces of it that’s going to be worked out. You got good public servants working through it. Let’s get a little trust here, because you’re starting to act like this is your problem. You are carrying the message, okay? What we’re going to do is have the buses staged. The initial place is at the convention center. We’re not going to announce other places at this time, until we get a plan set, and we’ll let people know where those locations are, through the government, and through public announcements. Right now, to handle the number of people that want to leave, we’ve got the capacity. You will come to the convention center. There are soldiers there from the 82nd Airborne, and from the Louisiana National Guard. People will be told to get on the bus, and we will take care of them. And where they go will be dependent on the capacity in this state. We’ve got our communications up. And we’ll tell them where to go. And when they get there, they’ll be able to get a chance, an opportunity to get registered, and so they can let their families know where they are. But don’t start panic here. Okay? We’ve got a location. It is in the front of the convention center, and that’s where we will use to migrate people from it, into the system.
Male reporter: General Honore, we were told that Berman Stadium on the west bank would be another staging area…
Honore: Not to my knowledge. Again, the current place, I just told you one time, is the convention center. Once we complete the plan with the mayor, and is approved by the governor, then we’ll start that in the next 12-24 hours. And we understand that there’s a problem in getting communications out. That’s where we need your help. But let’s not confuse the questions with the answers. Buses at the convention center will move our citizens, for whom we have sworn that we will support and defend…and we’ll move them on. Let’s not get stuck on the last storm. You’re asking last storm questions for people who are concerned about the future storm. Don’t get stuck on stupid, reporters. We are moving forward. And don’t confuse the people please. You are part of the public message. So help us get the message straight. And if you don’t understand, maybe you’ll confuse it to the people. That’s why we like follow-up questions. But right now, it’s the convention center, and move on.
Male reporter: General, a little bit more about why that’s happening this time, though, and did not have that last time…
Honore: You are stuck on stupid. I’m not going to answer that question. We are going to deal with Rita. This is public information that people are depending on the government to put out. This is the way we’ve got to do it. So please. I apologize to you, but let’s talk about the future. Rita is happening. And right now, we need to get good, clean information out to the people that they can use. And we can have a conversation on the side about the past, in a couple of months.
