Do you live in Alabama? Better watch out!

I was surfing tonight when I came across this story on giant yellow jacket nests.  From the story:

MOBILE — To the bafflement of insect experts, gigantic yellow jacket nests have started turning up in old barns, unoccupied houses, cars and underground cavities across the southern two-thirds of Alabama.

Specialists say it could be the result of a mild winter and drought conditions, or multiple queens forcing worker yellow jackets to enlarge their quarters so the queens will be in separate areas. But experts haven't determined exactly what's behind the surprisingly large nests.

Auburn University entomologists, who say they've never seen the nests so large, have been fielding calls about the huge nests from property owners from Dothan up to Sylacauga and over into west-central Alabama's Black Belt.

At one site in Barbour County, the nest was as large as a Volkswagen Beetle, said Andy McLean, an Orkin pesticide service manager in Dothan who helped remove it from an abandoned barn about a month ago.

That is just insane!  Wonder how you kill them all to start getting rid of the nest.

Marriage: Always a Disaster?

I was surfing today when I came across this article on marriage from Dr. Mohler's Blog.  Here is a quote:

“I'm not looking forward to marriage," says Nakeeda Burns , a 17-year-old resident of Revere and daughter of a single mother, “and I don't think we [people in general] should be married, because I see how other marriages ended up in my family and on television. It's always a disaster."

I just thought I would chime in.  It isn't always a disaster.  I'm married (8 almost 9 years now), and happy.  It isn't always perfect…it isn't always easy…but I'm happy that God brought Cyndi and I together.  I can't imagine my life without her.

FLoyd Landers

I was looking at my stats and referrers tonight, and I noticed quite a few hits comming from Australia.  I can only assume they are hitting this post I wrote about Stage 1 of the 2006 TDF.

We get a respectable amount of traffic, but not many comments.  So, I decided I would make this post and ask for comments.  Just drop me a line and tell me where you are from, how you got here, and what you are looking for.

Let it be known

Let it be known that I back Israel 100%.  They have given up too much in the past (troops for prisoners, Gaza Strip, West Bank, etc….) and are paying the price for it.  To Israel I say stand strong!  Continue your efforts to limit civilian casualties, but defend yourself.

Remember the purpose of war:  Kill more of your enimies people and break more of his "stuff" as quickly as possible.

New Link Added

I added a new link to the links section of the site.  The link takes you to a page talking about your rights to photograph in public.  It is well worth the read.
