JavaJack sent me this URL a few days ago… Oh how far we have come. Imagine being thrilled about storing 5,000,000 characters (5 million bytes…or, 5 MB)! The time was 1956, and it was IBM launching the very first hard drive!
New Sermons Posted
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finished posting new Salem Baptist Church sermons on the church's homepage. I'm sorry for the delay…our duplicator was broke and I was unable to get copies of the messages until recently.
Seen and Not Heard
First off, let me say that I'm a huge Petra fan. Ever since I went to a puppet convention in probably 89 or 90 and purchased their On Fire album, I have been hooked. Not only do they sound great, but their songs have a good message too. All their albums have lyrics, and all the lyrics are tied to scripture. And, to top it off, these guys have been around forever (they started in the 70s as a Jesus Band). I'm bummed since they decided to move on, but that is all up to God, isn't it? South Korea, Mission, and the US
According to this story in Christianity Today, Korea is second in sending out missionaries in the world (right behind the US). In terms of per congregation, they are 11th (1 missionary per 4.2 congregations). The US doesn't even rank in the top 10. Go South Korea!
We need to remember to pray for these brothers and sisters as they go out.

This is just plain wrong
I was reading World Net Daily like I do every morning when I came across this story about a couple arrested in Baltimore, MD because they got lost.
Can you believe it? Getting arrested because you ask directions from a cop! Continue reading “This is just plain wrong”
Dazzle 150
Our pastor recently bought a Dazzle 150. This device is pretty neat. It let's you take video from an analog source (VCR, camera, etc…) and create digital mpeg2 (dvd format) video out of it. So far, I've digitized about 4 hours worth of video with it with no issues.
Here in the next few weeks, I hope to have a copy of some video I can put up on the web to show everyone. Until then, you'll just have to be patient.
The only gripe I have is the software. This software took at least an hour to install. An hour! It was nuts. And to top it off, there were two DVDs, but the labeling didn't tell you which one to do first! Arg!
Anyway, if you have any questions about the device, just ask.
Just a taste of what is to come

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have given in. When the Da Vinci Code first came out, I said I wasn't going to read it. Why waste my time. Well, over the past couple of weeks, I have decided I'm going to read it and write a review. I'm also going to do some "defense" of Christianity; however, I don't know how much I'm going to do. Basically, doing too much with this is elevating this book above what it is…a work of fiction. Should historians write rebuttals to the fact that Tom Clancy wrote a book where Jack Ryan becomes President of the US? Should they talk about how the plane never crashed into the US Capitol? Clearly not…these events were a work of fiction. Same with Dan Brown's book. I haven't made up my mind how much I will write, but I'm planning to document what I do write well. |
