Urban Terror

urban terror lan party

With my switch to Linux about 6 months ago, one thing I missed was playing Call of Duty (no, I haven’t tried it in wine).  Just today, I found out about Urban Terror.  You can play it on Linux, Mac, and WIndows.  If anyone is interested…..

Groupon

Groupon

Anyone out there ever used groupon?  What has your experience been?  If you live in a “metroplex” type city and could go to 2 or 3 of the cities listed, what’s the best way to stay informed?

Waiting

Nexus S

Well, my Nokia e65 went on the fritz so I decided to get a new phone.  So, I ordered the Nexus S from Best Buy.  Ordered on the 2nd of Jan with a promise of 0-1 day fulfillment.  Their website hasn’t updated since then.  Tried to call them only to get some lame-o non-answer.  I’ll post more when I know it.

[Update 2011-01-11 15:42:40] Not only has it shipped, but it arrived prior to Best Buy even being able to tell me that it had shipped.  For more information, look here.

Website Updated

Lady Liberty at Sunset, New York, NY

As you can probably tell, I’ve made some changes to the website.  It looks different.  Comments are also different.  I have a few bugs to work out yet (and I might change the colors) but it is going to stay.  If you see anything broken or have problems, leave me a comment and let me know.

My Niece

My sister had a baby right before Christmas…here is a link to a picture that my parents took:

Debt Limit

“The fact that we’re here today to debate raising America’s debt is a sign of leadership failure. Leadership means the buck stops here” and “Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren.”

a rainbow of credit/debit cards..

Who said that?  When?  It was Pres. Obama back when he was Sen. Obama and voting against raising the debt ceiling for Pres. Bush.

If you haven’t heard, there is a battle looming in the House of Rep. as the US debt ceiling issue is tackled.  What do I think?  Here you go…..

The US is way way way way in debt.  Too much in debt.  The government–and we the people–need to control spending.  We can’t go on spending more than we make every year.

Governments–state, local, and federal–should HAVE to have balanced budgets.  If income–tax revenue–is less than expected, either cuts should be made or increases passed.  I would make one exception to this:  in times of war or extraordinary circumstances, the Federal Government should be allowed to borrow money…for that specific thing.

It is time we the people stood up and made our government act.  Either we want the services and are willing to pay the taxes to fund them or we are unwilling to pay the taxes and, thus, unwilling to fund the services/programs.  We can’t have everything all the time!
