Cyndi is pregnant

Well, since we have told our parents, I thought I would let everyone else know that Cyndi is pregnant.  We found out about a month ago…sorry for the delay, but we wanted to let our parents know first.  We told them by sending our dads Grandpa cards on Father's Day (we thought it would be unique).

Cyndi has her 1st dr. appt. next Wednesday (28 June).  At that time, we should have more specific info on when she is due, etc….

Cyndi has also told me that she is going to start blogging about her pregnancy, so check back often.

This is interesting…. “Mother” Jesus?

While there are points of disagreement within the Southern Baptist Convention, I'm glad we are all, for the most part, on the same page.  Next year in San Antonio, we won't have to worry about electing a woman to be president, whether or not churches will ordain womoen, or whether homosexuality is "normal" or not.

Al Mohler has a good wrap-up of the ECUSA sutuation.

Remember though, "But for the grace of God, there Go I."  It is only by God's grace the SBC was turned back from liberalism.  It is only by His grace that we aren't having these types of conversations at Convention.

Day Of Prayer Videos

For those who knew, the International Mission Board distributed a DVD (and a VHS tape) for the Day of Prayer and Fasting for International Missions. There was a neat video on there that I wished I could share with others. Well, it turns out that the IMB has put the video up on their website.

The video is called Pray and is well worth your time. Click the links below to take a look:

SBC 2006 Personal Results

Listening to Dr. Welch's last message, I made up my mind that I had to do something.  I needed to set some personal goal.  So, I have:

I have 1 year and in that year, I want to see one person converted, baptised, and being discipled to do the same thing.

I need everyone to pray for me that God will allow me to do this. Pray that I'll have the courage to stand up and witness.

I'll post updates every few weeks to let everyone know how I am doing.

My Thoughts on the 2006 Southern Baptist Convention in Greensboro, NC

Sorry for the lack of posting this week. Cyndi and I went to the Southern Baptist Convention and Pastor's Conference and just got back home yesterday. I wanted to live blog from the convention, but I decided not to try that hassle.

I want to go to San Antonio next year….perhaps then. Anyway, if you are interested in reading what I thought, you'll have to read more (hint…click the link below). Continue reading “My Thoughts on the 2006 Southern Baptist Convention in Greensboro, NC”

Interesting Quote

I hadn't posted a quote in quite a while, and I came across this one while surfing this morning:

If the church believes the Bible, and truly wants to practice it, put Baptist on the sign.

From http://www.fbbc.com/messages/one_step/one_step_18.htm

Before everyone gets all upset, I don't really agree with this.  It's just funny.  Funny in a "boy that will tick of the liberals" kind of way.  However, there are many many churches that have a Baptist label that you shouldn't go to.  There are churches that don't have Baptist in the name that are Baptistic and would be good to go to….they just don't have it in their name.  Remember, you are the person responsible for what is going on….  You need to do the research to find out if the church you are joining agrees with what the Bible says (what you believe should line up with the Bible too don't forget)
