Bike Ride — Feb. 10, 2009

Not too much better than yesterday’s ride.  But, this was uphill.  45 min out 10 back.  I froze on the way down.  Here are the stats:

Dist: 14.71 km
Ride Time: 58 min 14 sec
Avg. Speed: 15.3 kmph
Feb. Dist: 38.16 km
Total Dist: 313 km
Total Time: 18 hr 12 min

Bike Ride — Feb. 9, 2009

Well, I went on my first bike ride of 2009 today.  Wow.  It was horrible.  Here are the stats (sorry…my computer only does metric):

Dist: 23.45 km
Ride Time: 1 h 3 min 38 sec
Avg. Speed: 22.3 kmph
Feb. Dist: 23.45 km
Total Dist: 298 km
Total Time: 17 hr 13 min

Doing some more math, I barely averaged 13 mph.  ARG! I know, I haven’t ridden since Septemberish and have eaten poorly (I’ve gained 10 kg from my low after we arrived).  My goal is to get back in shape (where I was 1.5 years ago) and loose some weight (I’d like to weigh between 90 and 95 kg).

I found this picture of Lydia today looking through some flickr pictures.

Oh yeah…

I was reading the BBC today and came across this article about how Australians like their hot dogs (they call them snags) well done on the grill (barbie).  I only have one thing to say:

They’ve never tried cooking hot dogs over a fire and getting them well done.

The first challenge is getting the fire hot.  But not too hot.  But not too cold either.
Then you’ve got to figure out what to put the dog on (stick or metal stick.  We gave up cutting sticks when we found the metal forks at Cabelas)
Then you’ve got to cook the dogs.  They need to be done.  But not burnt.  But not underdone either.

To the left is a picture of us cooking dogs at the farm.  Prijatno!!

Sarma — Serbian Delight

07122008(006)Before Christmas, Cyndi and I had some friends invite us to their place for dinner (;unch actually…but it was at 5pm!).  We had Sarma.  It is rice, meat, etc… rolled up in cabbage leaves and cooked.  Lydia had some and really loved it.  Here is a picture of her.

P.S.  Randy, I’ll never forget what you said about stuff wrapped up in green leaves…but this was really good.

Lydia and Coffee

No, Lydia doesn’t drink coffee.  However, when we go out for coffee, we have started to buy her a bottle of juice for her to drink.  Prijatno!

A bunch of people from my old job got together and sent us a TON of stuff. I don’t know when they sent it, but we got it a few days after Christmas. There was tons of stuff in it. Reece Cups. Oreos. Books. Little Debbie Cakes. Peep Trees. TONS of STUFF. It was awesome. THANKS GUYS!!
