Cyndi and I spent the past several days attending a conference. I’ll post some more later about it; however, while there we met several new people (they were awesome!). Hopefully we’ll be getting back together in a few months for a reunion of sorts. In the meantime, keep us in your prayers.

Hillbilly: The Real Story Rescheduled
In this post , I mention an article that was in the Charleston Gazette talking about a new show that was supposed to air on the History Channel last night. Well, I turn on the TV and Ice Road Truckers is on. I’m bummed because I think I’ve missed it. I didn’t find any mention of it on the History Channel website so I decide to send them some feedback–not really expecting an answer. Well, today, I receive this reply:
Dear Mr. Maxson,

program HILLBILLY: THE REAL STORY.This program has been rescheduled. At this time, no new airdate has been
decided. Please check our online listings at www.history.com each month for schedule

ARG! Mythbusters! Arg!
I’m watching Mythbusters tonight and they are testing the “put the car into reverse to stop” myth. They totally miss it.
Their automatic had an interlock that prevented it. But, I know that some automatics support this (see http://www.gt-legends.de/faq_en/q13.html)
The manual they used had a synchronized transmission. Of course that won’t work…the synchronizers in the transmission are preventing the gears frm meshing.
I think they missed this one.
Virginia, Gun Control, and Campus
Right after the VT shootings, I made this post where I talked about how to prevent future VT style attacks. My main point was that students with a valid concealed carry permit should be allowed to carry on campus. Cyndi was reading on FoxNews.com today and saw this article where a student group is proposing exactly the same thing.
I, for one, vote yes!

More signs it’s coming
More signs that the housing bubble may be about to burst .
[Update 08-14-2007 07:53:30] I can’t spell. I corrected the title of this post.
This will get bashed…I’m sure
History Channel, WV, and Stereotypes
There was an interesting article a few days ago in the Charleston Gazette: History Channel series to feature Welch group.
The cast of the Welch-based Terror of the Tug theater group and scenes from McDowell County will be featured in a History Channel two-hour special series on Appalachia that premieres at 8 p.m. on Aug. 26.
Titled Hillbilly: The Real Story, the program traces the 300-year journey from the violent border wars of the Scottish lowlands to the Revolutionary War, the development of the Clinchfield Railroad and the West Virginia Mine Wars to present time.
According to Moore Huntley Productions, which produced the special, the program looks at the real stories behind the stereotypes and examines a people who grew as tough and resilient as the Appalachian Mountains themselves.
“Real stories behind the stereotypes….” Let’s hope so. Let’s watch and see what we think.
[Update 08-27-2007 17:17:42] The show wasn’t on last night. I sent the History Channel an e-mail and heard back from them. I detail their response here . The show has been rescheduled but they won’t tell me for when.

Answers in Genesis and ID
Answers in Genesis has just weighed in on the ID/Creationism debate.

Which Way?
When a man puts a belt on, which way does he put it on? Does he take the free end (opposite the buckle) and put it through the belt loop on the left side of the zipper or the right side (since right and left can be confusing…imagine wearing said pair of pants). How do you do it?
I take my belt and put the free end through the left hand loop.
