Amazon Affiliate Program

Facebook | Amazon.com

I just joined Amazon’s Affiliate program and wanted to let everyone know.  This means that if you click a link to a product on Amazon from my site, I’ll get a kickback from Amazon.  I seriously doubt I’ll make money from this scheme (scheme used in the British way to simply mean plan).  BUT….over the past 2 months, I have sold 5 kindles for Amazon from simply telling people about mine.  My 4% of those sales would have bought me 1 or 2 kindle books.

Don’t worry…I’m not going to start advertising on the site.  I’m doing this, like I said, because I’ve sold several kindles for Amazon recently and I want a nice simple way to build Amazon product links.  I also want to review books from Amazon that I’ve read on my Kindle.  Most are free–or at least I got them for free–but why not get something.

[Update 12-02-2010 07:15:38] I’m changing how I do book reviews.  Instead of simply posting a screenshot of the cover, I’m going to begin using an iframe.  It will do the same thing, show the cover, but I think it will make it clearer that I’ll make a few pennies if someone clicks my links to get to amazon.

The Internet Better Watch Out…

Why? I was randomly selected for a naked scan/full body scan at the airport. When they get out the internet will come crashing down…either because the pictures are so popular or because it wants to purge them…

[Update 11-20-2010 05:39:22] Looks like people are really up in arms about this.  Check out this article from Bruce Schneier.  There is also this account from Penn (of Penn and Teller fame).  Too bad everyone doesn’t stand up for themselves like he did.  But then, of course, he does have magic celebrity status….

Update on Maxson Clan

Internet is Temporarily Unavailable

Ok everyone…I know I’ve gotten bad about blogging over the past few months; however, the last few weeks haven’t been my fault.  The Maxson clan moved to England on the Island of Britian that is part of the UK (confused?  Watch the video embedded below).

Before we could get internet, we had to set up a bank account.  We went to the bank the first week we were here and turned in the paperwork.  Just a few days ago, we got our information (we are still waiting on the ATM cards).  I called that day and got set up with an ISP, but we are waiting for them to install it.  We’ve been given a date of 6 August as the setup date.  Until then, internet access is very spotty and we don’t have bandwidth to do things like upload pictures.

Until we get our internet set up, you’ll just have to sit tight and wait for new pictures.  When we get internet, I’ll make a real post and fill everyone in over what happened the last month.

Orthodox Church Building

I’m trying to get better about blogging since we’ve been back and are getting into a regular routene.  I don’t know what it will look like…but, tonight, I’m going to feature a photograph that we took of an Orthodox Church Building on our trip to Mostar.  These are dotted all over the landscape here and, frankly, I thought it was a good picture.  Enjoy.
